Here is this week’s installment in my “life verse” series. I found this passage from Psalm 119:65 (NLT) to be a sweet reminder of the Lord’s faithfulness to me:
“You have done many good things for me, LORD, just as You promised.”
I need to remember that God fundamentally is good, and that He works everything for my good, too. He promises to do this repeatedly in the Bible, and He keeps always His promises! If I’m honest, my faith waivers more often than I would like, but I can rest in His unchanging positive regard and love toward me.
So here is my prayer for today: Dear Lord, thank You for all of the good that You have directed toward me. I don’t merit it per se, but out of the abundance of Your goodness, kindness, mercy, grace, and compassion, You have blessed me with so many wonderful things and experiences that I honestly don’t deserve! However, I am tremendously grateful for all of the blessings that You have sent my way. Forgive me when (not if) I take any of Your gifts for granted; may I never forget that I simply am a steward of Your resources – Your time, talent, and treasure – since everything belongs to You, anyway. Help me to remember that – while I have been entrusted with certain talents, resources, and experiences – at the end of the day, I own nothing. All that I have, and all that I have been blessed to experience, have happened because of Your grace and generosity toward me. Thank You, Lord – You are indeed good. In Youe name I pray, Amen.
