This passage from Jeremiah 33 simply takes my breath away. That the sovereign God of the universe is interested in hanging out with me, so that He can reveal “great and mighty things” to me is absolutely incredible. Apparently, all I have to do is ask:
I really don’t have too much more to say, so I reckon I’ll pray and do my best to listen to God’s version of show and tell:
Dear God, thank You for this amazing promise from Scripture. I’m ashamed to think of how little I’ve taken You up on Your offer! Starting today, I am calling out to You, and I want to know whatever it is You want to show me and tell me.
I must admit, though, that I’m a little scared about it, too. I don’t think this reaction is wrong, since the Bible is peppered with stories of people who also sort of freaked out when You (or Your emissary) showed up in an unmistakable way.
I am particularly intrigued by these “great and mighty things” that I am unable to discern or understand without Your intervention. I so want to know more than what I am able to perceive through my own five senses; after all, if there are great and mighty things out there for me to comprehend, then I am missing out on some critical information for my life. This is not a good thing! I ask You to reveal these things to me, according to Your good timing purposes.
Thanks again for this incredible offer. Know that I look forward to hearing whatever it is You want to show me and tell me – now and in the future. In Your name I pray, Amen.
