I never thought I’d ever say this, but I can honestly say that I am grateful for the testing that God has permitted in my life. Hear me: I’m not seeking further testing – far from it – but, retrospectively, I can now see that it has been beneficial for me.

Why? Because I believe that the testing of my character precipitates the fulfilling the God-sized dreams in my life, so long as these desires align with the Lord’s will and timing.

Remember, in Joseph’s case, God was the One who gave him his dreams, and then fulfilled them according to His timetable. When God initiates the dream- and vision-setting for our futures, we can trust Him to bring the fulfillment to pass (often in ways we would not expect or freely choose for ourselves!). 😮

Dear God, thank You for testing my character. It’s been hard, but I believe that You have some great things in store for my life, so I look forward in faith to the fulfillment of the dreams and promises that You have reserved for me. In Your name I pray, Amen.

    1. I agree – I don’t think anyone enjoys trials, and it feels like God uses adaptive testing sometimes – allowing more challenging things into our lives after we’ve dealt with and learned from a previous difficulty. However, I can always look back on it in hindsight and see the wisdom of His ways, even though I do not understand the how/why of His sovereign will.
