I don’t know what you’re dealing with now, but I am so thankful today that the God I serve is strong, powerful, just, and mysterious. I feel like this verse from the book of Nahum (hello, minor prophet! Admittedly, this portion of my Bible gets dusty from time to time) says it best:
The words that really stand out to me are these: “The Lord hath His way.” God is good all by Himself, and His ways are utterly and completely mysterious. In the same way that a whirlwind or a storm is powerful – yet not fully understand – so is the Lord we serve. He’s so big and so mighty and so powerful that the clouds that we see in the sky are little more than particles of dust behind His feet.
So, be encouraged: No matter what problem you are facing today, remember that the Lord hath His way – even in the midst of the whirlwinds and storms in our lives. We may be tossed to and fro in the gales of the whirlwind, but we can take comfort in the fact that the Lord is right there with us, and remember that He has the power and authority to stop the storm at any time (although He often permits it to impact our lives in substantial ways, for reasons only He understands at this time). Even so, He is still trustworthy.
Dear God, thank You for reminding me that You have Your own way of doing things, according to Your timing and purposes. You are mysterious, yet desire to be known. Such a paradox confounds my finite human mind, but I am nonetheless grateful that You love me, and that You take a profound interest in the small affairs of my life. Help me to remember that You are so much bigger, greater, and more powerful than any problem I am facing; remind me to trust You in all things – even when doing so seems utterly bewildering. In Your name I pray, Amen.
