I came across this quote by Charles Spurgeon while viewing K-LOVE‘s Facebook page awhile ago. I think it sums up the hope of the gospel pretty well:
There you have it, folks. I have a great need, and I have a great Savior who meets that need every day! Thanks be to God.
Dear Lord, thank You for being all that I truly need. While I have desires that may go unfulfilled, I can rest in the knowledge that You are the One True Need in my life. Without You, life lacks meaning and purpose; and without You, I will inevitably find myself lost in a world that tells me that contentment can only be found in the accumulation of material possessions.
This is a lie from the very depths of hell. True joy can only be found in You – in a relationship that costs me nothing but time, honesty, and commitment.
Again, I thank You for being all that I’ll ever need…
- in this present moment,
- in my lifetime on this earth; and
- on the other side of eternity, too.
In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
