Light It Up

Today’s blog post will be a little bit different. If what I write resonates with you, feel free to share this idea with someone else.

The Bible speaks very clearly about the power of prayer. One of my favorite passages on the topic comes from the book of James:

Great power? Wonderful results? Well, shoot. What on earth do we have to lose? While we cannot (and should not) guarantee the outcome of any particular prayer, I nonetheless propose that we light up the Internet with intercessory prayer.

So here is what I suggest: if you have a prayer request – no matter how big or small – feel free to share it in the comments. I will commit to praying for the requests that are listed there.

Also, as you see the prayer burdens of others listed, I would encourage you to intercede for them. You don’t even have to know the person – if you feel so led, simply offer up a prayer to the Lord on behalf of that individual, trusting that He already knows everything about the situation.

I’m curious to see what happens when God’s people come together in faith and seek His will in prayer.

And in case it’s not clear, I am really grateful for the power of intercessory prayer. It’s a privilege to pray for others, and I know that I’ve been mightily blessed when people pray for me. What a remarkable thing is to have access to God on a twenty-four hour basis, resting in the knowledge that we can impact the world for Jesus from the comfort of our own homes!

Dear Lord, I thank You that I have the privilege to pray for others, and for the scores of thoughtful people who have prayed for me over the course of my lifetime. I shudder to think of how different my life might’ve been, had it not been for those prayers offered on my behalf.

My personal prayer request is for continued discernment. As You know, an opportunity surfaced yesterday that seems interesting, but I’m not convinced that it necessarily is in Your will for my life. So I’ve decided to wait until I get a clear next up from You. Please let me know whether I should relinquish this opportunity or move forward with it.

Thank You for hearing my earnest and heartfelt prayer, God. In the powerful name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

  1. This is a wonderful idea! We can be prayer warriors and intercede for others! What a privilege that is 😊 We may not be able to physically act in the lives of people we know to help, to love thy neighbour, but one thing we can always do is pray and God always answers according to His time and His will. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hear of God’s grace, power and goodness as His answers to those prayers unfold?! The we can thank God and glorify His Holy name! 🙏🏻x

    1. Amen, my friend! Prayer is a powerful weapon in the arsenal of a Christian.

And even though no one listed any specific prayer requests from my post yesterday, I was still able to pray for some issues that I’ve come to know about from other posts, and have been able to lift up the people God brings to mind in my own circle of influence.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. 😀
