The Antidote

So get this: God has clearly spelled out the antidote to worry in the Bible. It seems so simple and straightforward that I frequently overlook it.

The Bible doesn’t mess around, does it? The antidote to worry – my inwardly-focused response to the challenging circumstances of life –  is laid out here, but there surely are no guarantees that things will ever be easy.

As far as I can tell, the antidote is comprised of three interdependent parts:

  1. Seek God’s will in all things, and at all times (“the Kingdom of God”);
  2. Live according to the Lord’s standards (“live righteously”); and
  3. Believe that God keeps His promises, and will take care of me (“He will give you everything you need”).

Seek. Live. Believe.

Seek. Live. Believe.

Seek. Live. Believe.

It really is that simple.

Dear Lord, I thank You for providing the antidote to worry in the pages of Scripture. Thank You for spelling things out so clearly and concisely; however, I’ll continue to rely upon You to help me apply these truths to my day-to-day life.

 I ask You to equip me so that I will seek Your will in all areas of my life; that I will live in accordance to the standards laid forth in Your Word; and that I remember Your promises and trustworthiness. In Your name I pray, Amen.
