True Beauty

I came across this quote recently, courtesy of our friends at K-LOVE, and I was tremendously blessed by it. I wanted to share it here with you all, too:

My favorite part is the last line. πŸ˜€

Honestly, I believe that these words could just as easily apply to a man of honor as they do to a woman of beauty. As followers of Jesus, we should all strive to be honest, kind, compassionate, giving, and loving. All of our senses and abilities should be activated and engaged, so that others can experience the power of Christ through us.

And what should we do when those around us to respond to us with hostility and aggression? We pray, and then leave the matter in God’s very capable hands. Prayer – even a simple one like “Jesus, help!” – is always our most effective and reliable weapon.

Isn’t it interesting that the world in which we live seems to value the very opposite of these attributes? Beauty appears to be defined by youthfulness and the relentless pursuit of perfectionism, which almost always keeps our attention trained on ourselves. I believe that the Lord wants us to do life a different way.

Instead of always asking, “What can I get from the situation? What’s in it for me?” We have another option: we can give β€“ freely of our time, talents, and treasures. I believe that God desperately wants us to care about those within our circle of influence – and even those beyond it. He wants us to love authentically, and to care sincerely. Most importantly, I believe that He wants us to act. And when everything seems to be stacked against us, He wants us to pray, trust Him for the outcome, and leave the matter entirely in His hands.

No plastic surgeon, Botox, diet, fitness regimen, or any amount of money can ever give you beauty like that. Whether you are male or female, true beauty (or honor, if you are man) comes from how intentionally we care about and engage with others. In so doing, we truly reflect the fact that we are made in the image of God. And I believe that when we choose to treat others in a loving and authentic way, we delight the very heart of God.

Dear Lord, I really love this great quote from KLOVE. Please help me to be a true woman of beauty who is genuinely concerned about those around me, rather them so selfishly focused on my own desires and needs.

I also want to thank You for the honorable men who serve You each day by loving their families, friends, and coworkers. They know what it is to lead in a biblical way, and to seek Your will in their lives. I can clearly see that a man of honor brings great joy to You as well.

I think it’s remarkable that if we – as women of beauty and men of honor – live out our days the way You have ordained, we can absolutely transform the world for the better. It’s staggering to think about, but with You nothing is impossible! So please use us to help change this world so that people come to understand that what they need most in life is a bona fide relationship with You. In Your name I pray, Amen.

  1. Yes, the world could be quite impressive, if we all practiced praying for others, caring for others, their well being, their feelings. Not thinking “what will I gain” from this but what can I GIVE in this situation, well, prayer would be the start πŸ™‚ I’ve been writing about this(I haven’t published them, and I might not lol) God Bless you πŸ™‚
