Hot Water!

Man alive, am I grateful that the Lord helped me today!

I was enjoying my weekly Bible study with my stepfather when something unexpected happened. We were reading Psalm 19 together, and suddenly, the cup of hot tea that I was drinking tipped over and coated the Bible (and me!) with scalding water.

Reflexively, I stood up, and my stepfather moved quickly to get paper towels so that I could dry me off. Mercifully, I had come from an exercise class a couple hours earlier, so I was wearing moisture-wicking workout leggings. Even so, my still leg felt wet, but I did not have any burns on my body.

In fact, even my Bible survived the ordeal quite well. While the pages were still coated with mint tea, we turned the fan on, and they tried fairly quickly. Of course, now Psalm 19 โ€“ and some of the Psalms following it โ€“ have a beige tinge to them, but otherwise the Bible wound up being relatively unscathed.

I shudder to think what might’ve happened had I been wearing something different. Heaven forbid that I had on a dress or something, I might’ve ended up with some painful burns on my body! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I am reminded of the verse from Psalm 91 that talks about the angelic protection that we, as children of God, enjoy:

For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways (โ€ญโ€ญPsalmโ€ฌ โ€ญ91:11โ€ฌ, NASBโ€ฌโ€ฌ).

I can testify that the Lord intervened on my behalf this evening. I walked away from the study with a couple of wrinkled and slightly discolored pages in my Bible, but otherwise I am fine. Talk about a miracle!

Dear Lord, I thank You for protecting me this evening. There really isn’t any other way to explain what happened, aside from noting that You saved me from significant harm tonight. You literally kept me out of hot water!

Thanks for this reminder that You keep in ever watchful eye over me, and that Your tender care for is constant. In Your name I pray, Amen.

  1. Yesssss, love it! The scripture says God’s angels will bear us up and prevent us from even bumping our foot against a stone (Psalm 91:12). He cares about our every little affliction and He seeks to protect us from every little hurt, harm, or danger! Awesome post!
