Belief and Behavior

Brief post today – it’s been a busy day, and I am very tired. However, my church’s Bible reading plan has me in the book of James now, and I felt led to share these verses here:

It’s not enough to merely listen to the Truth; we must respond in obedience and behave in such a way that reflects what we believe.

Today, I am grateful for the book of James. It can be a challenging and in-your-spiritual-face sort of read sometimes, but there’s a lot of helpful truth packed into its pages. consequently, it’s one of my favorite books of the Bible.

Dear Lord, please help me to behave in such a way that honorably reflects my belief in You. Faith acts in response to belief – and this is different from giving intellectual assent to some nice ideas about You in the Bible.

Each day, would You give me the wisdom and discernment needed to live out these verses? I know that I’ll fail sometimes, but even when I mess up, please give me the courage to try again. In Your name I pray, Amen.

      1. So happy to hear that you are resting, my friend. My 2 busy weeks might turn into a few more but God is good to help me through. I haven’t been able to log in until yesterday, and I want to make sure that I don’t miss your new blog. If you have posted it already please let me know so I can follow :):)

      2. It sounds like you have been swept off your feet with busyness! 🙂 I hope that you’re able to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving holiday, too.

I haven’t advertised the new blog yet, as I am behind in getting the webpage up and running. You haven’t missed anything! 🙂

      3. You didn’t miss anything, Margaret. 🙂 My final post on DT just now included the URL for the new site, even though I’m just getting started (only one post so far). I’m a little nervous about it all, but I’m trusting that God knows what He’s doing with this new blog.

So glad to hear that you had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving! 😀
